My name is Melissa and I am the one behind the lens, as well as owner and operator of Luxe & Lace Studios.

I have loved photography my whole life, truly. Over the last 20 years, I have learned so, SO many things about photography. From lighting and settings, to posing and candid imagery, I've experienced it all.

​

I've created so many memories.

I've failed.

I've inspired.

I've broken.

...and now, I've succeeded. 

​

Here's the story behind the Luminous Muse.

 

I felt there was more to the Elegant Maternity Boudoir concept.

I was missing something. It need MORE.

As these thoughts are running through brain and I'm about to start editing my first Maternity Boudoir session, I pulled up the first photo.

​

And there it was. 

My STUNNING client.

The glow that was radiating from her beautifully bare, child bearing body.

The simple yet flattering setting.

The most emotional, raw beauty of the whole moment, was the literal moment I saw it... the creation of The Luminous Muse."

Luminous is the producing or reflecting bright light, or glowing, especially in the dark.

Muse is a source of creative inspiration; a person, force, or idea that sparks imagination and drives artistic expression.

​​

THIS is what my whole journey has been about. 

Expressing the art I see through my lens and making it come to life in the most beautiful way imaginable. Through Motherhood and the captivating fearlessness of the woman's body.

​

The Journey to Motherhood is unexplainable in all of the ways imaginable. Scary, exciting, and so unknown.​

​

From my own experience, as the months progressed, the worst I felt. Not only mentally and emotionally, but my body was changing in ways I wasn't expecting. I didn't feel beautiful. I felt MISERABLE. I felt like a whale. I felt out of sorts in all the way possible.

I have three children and while each pregnancy was different, I felt ... well to be honest, fat and ugly!

But ladies... Mommas... we are NOT fat and ugly while we are carrying a tiny human being.
We are glowing and inspiring. We are tired, hungry, sick, happy, mad, sad too... but we are BEAUTIFUL in a way only a woman can illustrate. 

​

The bold curves, soft skin, and delicate features define the uniqueness of a woman's body.

​​

This is not about perfection.

This is about presence.

This is about you, exactly as you are in this moment.

​
